On May 9, 2023, the daytime industry lost a beloved actress in General Hospital’s Jacklyn Zeman. And while the five-time Daytime Emmy nominee will always be remembered for playing Bobbie, the actress was part of another television family having played Sofia for eight seasons on The Bay. Our sister site, Deadline, has learned that the PopStar! TV series will pay tribute to Zeman on December 27.
In the special episode titled “Sofia,” various General Hospital alums will come together to pay tribute to Zeman, who passed away at 70 after a short battle with cancer. Dee Wallace, who not only played Zeman’s character’s sister Charlotte on The Bay but appeared as her sister Patricia on the ABC soap, will take part in the special, along with Days of Our Lives’ Tamara Braun, who played Zeman’s daughter in Port Charles and Leigh McCloskey, who played Damian, one of Bobbie’s love interests in the 1990s.
Zeman’s real-life daughters, Cassidy and Lacey Rose, will also take part in the episode by describing their mom’s character. The Bay creator Gregori J. Martin shared in a press release, “It was an honor for us to have Jackie’s daughters Lacey Rose and Cassidy contribute beautiful words to describe their mother that we implemented into our script and will play on screen this Friday.”
