Gold Rush’s One-of-a-Kind Golden Excavator Tribute | GOLD RUSH
“Gold Rush,” one of the most beloved reality TV shows on the Discovery Channel, is gearing up for its 15th season, marking an impressive 15-year milestone with millions of viewers worldwide. The upcoming season promises to bring new adventures, dramatic challenges, and some surprises to celebrate this memorable journey.
One of the most memorable highlights from the 10th season was the collaboration between “Gold Rush” and Volvo Construction Equipment to create a one-of-a-kind gold-painted EC200E crawler excavator. This excavator was not just a symbol of the show’s success but also part of a charitable initiative that made significant contributions to two nonprofits: Habitat for Humanity and Building Homes for Heroes.
The excavator, coated with 2.5 gallons of shimmering gold paint and featuring high-end amenities like gold track pads and a temperature-controlled seat, embarked on a 25,000-mile tour across the U.S. and Canada. This tour not only built excitement for the subsequent auction but also gave fans and industry professionals a chance to admire this dazzling golden machine.
At the auction hosted by Richie Brothers in February 2020 in Orlando, Florida, Tony Beets and his son Kevin, key figures on the show, actively participated to greet potential buyers and facilitate the auction. The event concluded with the excavator being sold for $290,000 to a forestry contractor from Belgium, with the proceeds donated to the two charities.
As “Gold Rush” enters its 15th season, the show continues to captivate its audience by mining gold from the Alaskan wilderness and by sharing the inspiring personal stories of its cast. With a combination of action, drama, and charitable endeavors, “Gold Rush” remains an essential part of reality TV enthusiasts’ watchlist, keeping them hooked season after season.
