On April 27, Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain took to Instagram together to announce that they have parted. “Cady and Jon here,” their post began. “We are taking this opportunity to make a short statement about our relationship status. It may be obvious to some based on our posts that we’ve taken some time apart.

“After serious consideration,” the message continued, “we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage. We remain friends and wish each other every happiness.”

The couple got acquainted during Lindstrom’s 2008-2010 stint as Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns, where McClain was already playing Rosanna Cabot. They tied the knot on Valentine’s Day 2014 and went on to other soaps. Lindstrom returned to General Hospital, where he’d been playing Kevin Collins off and on since the early 1990s, and McClain made an unfortunate detour through The Young and the Restless (as Kelly Andrews) on her way to Days of Our Lives (as Jennifer Deveraux).

Needless to say, professionally the actors have flourished. Lindstrom won raves for his resurrection of Kevin’s evil twin Ryan Chamberlain, earned Emmy nod after Emmy nod, and just published his first novel, Hollywood Hustle. McClain set an Emmy record with her win for Days of Our Lives; it made her the first star ever to score for three different roles in three different categories on three different networks.

“As people who work in the public eye,” Lindstrom and McClain concluded their note, “it can be difficult to have a private life. Regardless, we ask for your kind consideration in this matter.”
