The cruel fate of F/V Saga makes Deadliest Catch fans heartbroken over the ship’s uncertain future.
It’s safe to say fans are super excited to see Deadliest Catch back on their screens this June. The hugely anticipated season 20 finally airs Tuesday nights at 8 pm. As many familiar faces return to the show, some fans may notice that some long-standing elements of the TV show have disappeared – namely the F/V Saga.
Deadliest Catch welcomes big names in the crab fishing game back to the Discovery Channel this summer. Sig Hansen, Jake Anderson, Steve ‘Harley’ Davidson, ‘Wild’ Bill Wichrowski, and more familiar faces are set to appear in season 20. Equally famous as their human captains and crew, the Deadliest Catch vessels are also making a return, apart from three that have been dropped since last season.
Deadliest Catch season 20: Where is the F/V Saga?
Any Deadliest Catch viewers tuning in to season 20 this June may notice the disappearance of the one show’s many famous fishing vessels.
The F/V Saga has appeared on Deadliest Catch since the show’s pilot.
Given that the Discovery Channel show kicked off in 2005, that’s a seriously long-running F/V.
However, it seems the Saga’s time on the show has come to an end as Jake Anderson, Sophia ‘Bob’ Nielsen, and Sean Dwyer are no longer appearing as its crew.
Reddit users take to a thread to share their thoughts on a listing of a boat that looks just like the Saga on Dock Street Brokers.
With lots of fans concluding the boat in the images is the Saga up for sale, they write how “sad” they feel.
One said the news “sucked” while more wrote: “That’s really sad.”
Other people asked what it means for the fate of the boat’s former captain: “I wonder what this means for Jake?”
Deadliest Catch’s Jake and Sophia have moved on
As Deadliest Catch returns for season 20, some changes have been made to the crews and their fishing vessels.
Sig Hansen exclusively tells People how he experiences a “first” in his career after many years on the Bering Sea.
He’s joined on his boat, F/V Northwestern, by Jake Anderson this series.
Jake also appears on the show on another boat, F/V Titan Explorer, during season 20.
Though Sophia is no longer on the Saga or the Victory this season, she’s still a cast member on the show.
She’s appearing alongside Greg Wallace on the F/V Seabrooke.
This season also sees Johnathan Hillstrand coming out of retirement on the F/V Time Bandit.
