Fans Might Have Seen The New Boat Before

The New Boat Has Got Fans Talking Money

The new boat also became a topic of discussion on the Deadliest Catch Reddit page. As one user set up the post, “Thoughts on this? It’s the F/V Bountiful. Couldn’t have been cheap.”

Some took this as a sign that Shelford must be doing well financially. As one user wrote, “It’s a big boat, on dock street if was a couple million. I’m glad that his families business is doing well though. I don’t think ricks going to be running it but it and if he is then that’d be scary, I question him sometimes on the Aleutian Lady.”

Meanwhile, some users began to wonder just how finances work on Deadliest Catch. Many found it surprising these boats could turn such a profit with all the upkeep. As one user put it, “I’ve watched 11 seasons of this show. I still don’t understand how anyone makes money after all the repairs and upgrades they make on these boats. Are all the maintenance costs exaggerated for the show, or trivial when it comes to the profit margin? I can’t get a grasp on it.”

In response to this, another user suggested financial issues are played up for the series. As they suggested, “These boats function all year long. Crabbing it just a more miserable fishing experience, so it’s highlighted for a reality TV show.” Another wrote that they wished “the show went more into the practicalities of it all, exactly how does the quotas work, what is the usual values for buying it etc.”
