A blizzard is brewing, a wedding is looming and Beverett is getting more and more agitated. And all of that means… actually I’m not entirely sure. But I have a feeling we’re coming to the end of a number of Days of Our Lives storylines, which, for all my confusion, is kind of exciting! Plus, Eric may finally be thinking again!

Plot, Meet… Wait, What’s the Point?

Well, I guess this is the week that we learned Julie hates kids. Her being fed up with the little ones came out of nowhere, especially since she’d been living with Chad and the kids already. And now they’re living in the Kiriakis mansion, which has got to be so much bigger than the Horton house and they’re crowded? I know, by Friday, they made a point to explain it as Julie just wants to be home, but that’s also about when I realized it was all just an excuse to get her up to the Horton cabin the same time as Johnny and Chanel so that they can… get snowed in?

In the Horton cabin, Johnny holds up two twigs. With her arms crossed and shoulders hunched, Chanel side-eyes them

Chanel was a little freaked out when Johnny showed her his best ant impression. “Look! Here are my antennae!”

Next week, spoilers have Chanel getting lost in a blizzard, and Paulina, who’s in isolation after her radiation treatment is going to help find her. And suddenly I’m worried that her talk with Marlena about how she’s got a pipeline to the spiritual or something is going to mean her having visions of where Chanel is. I’m curious about where this is all going, but that’s just because I have no clue what the end game is here. What’s Julie’s role?

I guess the whole Clyde at the cabin theory is a bust. Heck, from the call we saw with Ava, it looked like he’s just hiding out in the park! I’d thought Chad would be the one to take him out, but now that Ava’s filled Harris in on the latest demand, I’m starting to wonder if he’ll be the one to pull the trigger on Clyde. But it wouldn’t be in the line of duty, which means losing his badge and possibly being shipped off to prison like they did to Lani, and putting an end to Harris.

Wedding Nightmare

I’m going to cry. Maggie is not going to marry Konstantin. No! She’s not that naive! The only way I’ll take this is if, at the wedding, she goes, “Aha! I’ve been leading you on the whole time, you con! Begone from my sight!” But that doesn’t make sense and we know she’s not because she’s been telling everyone she’s got feelings for him. So instead, I’ll just cry.

A confounded Maggie faces Konstantin, who makes an impassioned point.

“Honestly, Konstantin, I don’t know why I trust you, either, but here we are.”

To be clear, I know Konstantin isn’t going to win — especially since we just got a storyline where Maggie lost everything. It’s the way they’ve been killing Maggie’s character to make her fall this much for his, often ludicrous excuses that’s driving me crazy.  So even when he is kicked to the curb (and I’m hoping it’s before the wedding actually happens, though spoilers have me worried), this tale will leave a sour taste in my mouth.

But maybe the story savior will come from the unlikeliest of places: Thomas. I can’t think of a single other reason for him to find Konstantin’s card. Though Thomas controlling The Pawn does kind of crack me up… I’m hoping he’ll save the day and somehow whip it out just in time to stop Maggie and Konstantin’s wedding. I picture them all at the ceremony, including with John and Steve. The Pawn gets triggered, everyone asks what Thomas has and he explains he found it in Konstantin’s room, then all hell breaks loose and Maggie calls the wedding off. And scene.

Wow, Pokémon cards have gotten dark these days.

Either way, John and Steve finally pivoting to get to the bottom of what really happened with Katharina is so very, very welcome. And Steve making it clear to Kayla that nothing’s changed with his distrust of Konstantin is also a huge relief. Maybe now that Konstantin thinks he pulled the wool over Black Patch’s eyes, he’ll let his guard down with them.

Anger Management

I’ll amend my idea last week that Bobby might be in control, but I still really don’t think Everett knows about Bobby. At least not consciously. I think there may be a part of him that does, maybe the Bobby part, that’s pushing him to reject the idea so forcefully, the closer they get to the truth. So while Bobby might not have fully emerged, he could still be influencing Everett.

Jada glares at Everett in the Spectator office. He reaches out as if he's explaining something. Leo gapes and Stephanie creases her brow

“I won’t sign your divorce papers, but how about we just shake on pretending we’re divorced? What? No good?”

But I’m not of the camp that Beverett is all one person just leading a double life. I feel like Everett would be smoother in his denials if that were the case, but he’s getting too agitated when Bobby comes up lately. But having feelings for Jada? From how horrible he treated her, it seems like Bobby barely did, so why would Everett?

Seeing the Light

Is Eric finally catching on? He’s been cheerfully oblivious to how little Sloan wants their baby, and he bought her excuse about the rent as easily as I expected him to. But color me pleasantly surprised that he kept digging and realized the finances just don’t add up. Leo, my friend, you may be the reason Sloan gets caught after all! That decrease in blackmail money could be too little too late.

Sloan sheepishly holds a notepad. Eric looks at it with bulging eyes

“Oh my God, Sloan, there are so many numbers! I don’t know what any of this means, so I’ll just take your word.”

Not yet, of course, despite spoilers next week saying Eric’s suspicious. But if this puts him on his guard to start paying more attention to Sloan, her lies and inconsistencies, it could, like I mused earlier in the week, be the beginning of the end.

Stray Thoughts..

  • Between EJ looking to take the reigns at DiMera (interim CEO my you-know-what), Paulina’s growing annoyance with him and his press conference, and Kristen calling in Wei Shin, I think we EJ’s DA phase may be ending. Then there’s the casting news that looks a whole lot like we’re going to be getting Gabi coming back again soon and the fact that Remington Hoffman was at the show’s 15,000th episode celebration (meaning Li’s probably alive) and the DiMeras may be about to get interesting again.
