At Il Giardino, Deacon marvels over the news that Sugar was released from prison two months ago. It must have been her on the slab at the crematorium, because it sure wasn’t Sheila. He mutters that you can’t make this stuff up; it’s unbelievable. If Sugar was cremated, “Where are you Sheila?”
At the cliff house, Finn is ready for work and Steffy is kissing him goodbye when a knock comes at the door. Steffy calls out, “It’s open!” and Hope comes in saying, “It’s open? Well, that’s a nice surprise.” Steffy laughs, “Yeah, no guards.” Now that Sheila’s gone they can finally breathe again. Hope apologizes on behalf of her dad for the crazy things he’s been saying about Sheila.
Hope has no idea what Deacon is doing, going around town saying Sheila is alive. They’ve already suffered enough. “Especially you, Steffy.” Finn thinks Deacon is in denial. He convinced himself he saw ten toes on Sheila to give himself some hope that she’s alive. “It’s the only explanation.”
In Forrester’s design office, Zende stops sketching to think about Luna being upset. Carter comes in and muses that it’s must be hard to work when he can’t stop thinking about Luna. He tells him he’s a good guy and what happened was messed up. Zende says it was all a mistake, but Carter points out he knew he was in bed with his cousin’s girlfriend. Zende wants him to keep it from Ridge, he can’t imagine how he’d react. Carter says Ridge is the least of his worries. “You betrayed your family, man. And on top of it you’re crazy about her. It’s written all over your face.”
Zende confirms he’s crazy about Luna. He kicks himself for the way he acted when she showed up at his place, but he thought she wanted him as much as he wanted her. “RJ didn’t even cross my mind.” That was wrong, but in the moment all he could think about was Luna. He cries, “I can’t work, I can’t focus, all I can think about is that night. It never should have happened.” But he can’t stop thinking about it either. For him, it was real. Carter marvels that Luna really thought he was RJ. Zende recalls feeling so connected to her, and then the next morning she was so upset. “She feels beyond guilty.” They agree it’s not her fault, it’s all on her mother’s mints. Carter learns she came clean with RJ. “Did he understand?” Zende asks, “Would you?! Who knows what RJ’s going to do now.”
In the main office, Luna brings in a box and hears the door behind her. She turns, thinking it’s Ridge, but it’s RJ. Luna offers to leave, but RJ stops her. “I miss you.” Luna tells him he doesn’t have to say that if he doesn’t mean it. RJ does. “I hate being apart. I want to call you, wondering how you are. I keep wanting to talk to someone about this, and the only person I want to talk to is you.” He complains it’s awkward now. “This isn’t us!” Luna doesn’t know what to do about it. RJ sighs, “Neither do I.” Luna needs to know where things stand between them.
RJ tells Luna he’s hurt and more confused now than when she first told him. Every time he thinks about it, he sees her in Zende’s bed. It’s not her fault and no one can blame her for it. “Don’t you do it either.” Luna sniffs, “What if you can’t get past it?” RJ wants to. He wants their life back.
At the cliff house, Steffy doesn’t care what Deacon thinks, “I know what happened.” Hope thinks it’s like Finn said — he can’t accept that Sheila’s gone. Steffy says she is gone and he needs to accept it. “Sheila is no longer a threat to us.” Finn is on his way out the door when he gets a text from Deacon to come to the restaurant. “ASAP. URGENT.” Steffy and Hope sit down at the table to work.
At Il Giardino, Deacon murmurs, “Your mother may still be alive, Finn.”
At the cliff house, Hope and Steffy discuss the transition of the line since Thomas left. Steffy says he and Douglas are doing well overseas. Hope snips, “I’ve heard.” She says it’s been hard for her. “I miss them.” Steffy says, “So do I.” Hope is determined to make Hope For the Future’s next line a success. She knows Steffy wanted her away from Thomas, so she doesn’t have to fake sympathy. “Just be grateful for what’s going right in your life. Sheila’s gone and you are married to an amazing husband and father.”
Steffy knows how lucky she is to have Finn in her life. He had a connection to Sheila, but it’s broken now. She’s grateful she’ll never be part of their lives again because she doesn’t know how much more ‘Sheila’ their marriage can take.
Finn arrives at the restaurant, where Deacon tells him he may want to sit down for this. Finn doesn’t want to hear it because he presumes this has to do with Sheila. Deacon tells him he’s figured it out and he’s more convinced than ever that Sheila’s alive. Finn looks annoyed.
In the design office, Zende tells Carter that Luna is hoping RJ can forgive her. He thinks his cousin would be a fool not to do so.
In the main office, Luna tells RJ she misses joking with him at work and being with him at the beach. She’s sorry for hurting him and wants to know what she can do to fix this. “I don’t want you to forget how much I love you.” RJ will never forget. “I love you too, Luna. I’m never going to stop loving you.” Luna flies into his arms and they cry and embrace.
At Il Giardino, Finn lashes out at Deacon, telling him that Sheila is dead. Steffy stabbed her and saw her face. “You saw her face.” This isn’t healthy. Deacon hollers that she’s out there and they need to find her. Finn has heard enough. “You need to let this go! You need help, Deacon!” Deacon needs his help. “Your mother needs your help.” Finn says his birth mother is gone and she isn’t coming back. He doesn’t want to hear another word about ten toes or what he thinks he saw at the crematorium. “I am done!”
Deacon pleads, “It’s not about that, OK. I found out something alright. Your mother had a friend, an accomplice. Sugar.” Finn doesn’t know who that is. Deacon didn’t either, but someone from his mother’s past in Genoa City came to town and he asked her about it. Finn frowns, “Asked who about it?” Deacon says, “Lauren Fenmore.” She thought he was nuts too until she mentioned Sugar. “Brace yourself, pal, because this is legit.” He couldn’t figure out how he saw Sheila’s face and ten toes. Finn sighs, “Because you didn’t.” Deacon says that’s right, he didn’t. “Because it wasn’t Sheila’s face. Lauren put it together for me. Sheila and Sugar are one in the same.” Sheila convinced Sugar to have plastic surgery and was in cahoots with the surgeon. When he was finished with Sugar she had Sheila’s face. “Identical.” Finn tells Deacon, “This is insane.” Deacon rails, “Don’t you get it? There is someone out there who looks exactly like Sheila with ten toes.” Finn groans, “So, you think…” Deacon exclaims, “Yes! I think it was Sugar who was in the crematorium. Not Sheila. Don’t you get what that means, man? Your mom is still alive. Sheila is out there and she is still alive!”
Next on The Bold and the Beautiful: Deacon puts the puzzle pieces together and recounts a crazy story to Finn, Steffy and Hope stand united in their stance on Deacon and Sheila, and Ridge gives Brooke good news, and Brooke, in turn, delivers bad news.
