Even As Bold & Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang Celebrates Her Emmy Nomination, She’s Ready For Brooke’s Next Rival!

The infamous “friendship pact” between Bold & Beautiful‘s Brooke and Taylor may not have lasted long, but that ill-fated relationship is still paying off in some regards. Why? Because it is scenes involving that doomed-from-the-start pairing which helped snag Katherine Kelly Lang her latest Daytime Emmy nomination.

“The scenes are from when it all reached a head,” reveals Lang.

“I’m terrible at this,” she admitted shortly after being told of the nomination. “I never know what to pick! It’s different when people are watching every day. But out of context, you might not know why I’m having a particular reaction.”

With so much material to choose from, how does Lang figure out exactly what she wants to submit? “I prefer to use something more subtle, but subtle doesn’t usually win the Emmy,” she laughs. “This year, I was lucky because my scenes with Krista Allen’s Taylor gave me both subtle stuff and bigger, more confrontational material.”

Fortunately, when it came time to select, she had feedback from a plethora of people, including Amy Farina (“She ran my fan club for years!), not to mention Bold & Beautiful‘s Supervising Producer Casey Kasprzyk and Vice President of Communications and Talent Relations Eva Basler. “I get all of their thoughts, which are usually running along the same lines.” Ultimately, however, she finds that “usually the first set of opinions are what I go back to, and they’re usually right.”

These days, Brooke doesn’t have Taylor to clash with, and the runway seems clear for the much-discussed (but not yet on the books)  Brooke/Ridge wedding. But Lang is sure there’s a new foe on the horizon. “She’ll find one, I have no doubt,” laughs the actress. “I mean, she has to, right? That’s what makes it fun, having someone to go head-to-head with!”
