Jessica Shannon has always taken care of the children in the family. When she lived with Pumpkin and Josh Efird, she helped to raise their kids in exchange for a place to stay. Finally, she got her own place and had a female roommate. Little did the family know that this roommate was actually Jessica’s girlfriend, Shyann McCant. They had wanted her to start dating and were very accepting when she brought Shyann around. Pumpkin and Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson made sure to take the girls out to a drag show to celebrate her coming out. This was not a big deal as Pumpkin came out as bisexual when she was younger as did Mama June.
When Pumpkin and Josh took Alana to see Regis University in Colorado, they asked Jessica to watch their four children. Since she had experience with Ella, Bentley, Silas, and Stella, it made sense.
