The Young and the Restless’ Courtney Hope Got Locked Out of Daytime Emmy Party – Why Winner Had to Fight Security Guards
The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is gearing up for some new twists in her current storyline with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), but her portrayer faced some real-life drama following the Daytime Emmys ceremony last month.
In an interview with SOD, Courtney Hope opened up about a terrible chain reaction that left her locked out of the celebration.
Once the awards were given out and Hope scored a win in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category, she ultimately decided to take her statuette back to her hotel room.
Since Hope had heard stories about someone else’s statuette getting snatched last year, she didn’t want to take any chances with her own.
Hope successfully secured her statuette in her suite, but she goofed by washing off the stamp they put on her hand when she previously entered the party.
Unfortunately, Hope also swapped purses while she was at her hotel room, so she no longer had her ticket.
That left Courtney Hope with no way to prove she was an invited guest – and to make matters worse, the security guard who watched her leave the first time wasn’t around anymore!
Hope placed her hand under the black light scanner, but the stamp wasn’t visible and they denied her entry.
It left Hope wondering if she’d have to go all the way back to her suite and sit the rest of the bash out.
However, Courtney Hope chose to toot her own horn a bit out of desperation.
Since people kept congratulating her as they exited, Hope let the security guards know she was actually a Daytime Emmy winner.
Hope insisted that she “didn’t mean to be pompous,” but she clarified that she “literally won an Emmy tonight and…was just in there.”
That news initially wasn’t enough, but the security guards mulled it over as the evidence started to mount.
“And then two people walk out and said, ‘Congratulations. Your speech was amazing.’ And I turned to the security guards and said, ‘Come on guys, really?’ And they both finally said, ‘Okay, fine. You can go in,’” Hope explained.
Although the whole ordeal brought plenty of anxiety for the Y&R star at the time, Hope now looks back on it as a funny story from an otherwise victorious night!
