The Gates Official January 2025 Debut – Details on CBS’ Formal Series Order
The Gates is officially moving forward at CBS, so it won’t be long until fans are introduced to a new soap centered around a wealthy Black family in an exclusive gated community. Thanks to an exciting announcement from the network, we now know there’s a formal series order.
We also have a timeframe when it comes to when we can expect The Gates to hit the air. It turns out the new daytime drama will make its debut in January 2025.
It’s too early to offer predictions on the exact airdate or the storylines that’ll be told, but it’s nice to know CBS will be kicking off 2025 with a fresh offering in the soap world.
Since The Talk was recently canceled, it led to plenty of speculation that it was happening to make way for The Gates’ upcoming premiere.
Now there’s confirmation that The Gates has been given the green light at the network, so they’ll be moving forward with writing, casting and so much more.
Michele Val Jean, who has extensive soap writing experience due to her time on staff at The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital, is the showrunner (executive producer and head writer) for the series, so we have no doubt that The Gates’ head writing and creative control will be in good hands.

There’s no word yet on any exact story plans or any cast members who might be joining the show, but it’s clear that CBS is throwing major support behind this idea and going all in on their latest daytime offering.
It’s a big deal for a brand-new soap to be airing in 2025, so it’s something that many fans will want to get behind as well.
This marks the first time a Black family has been at the true center of a daytime drama since NBC’s Generations first aired back in 1989.
The Gates will join The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful to make a substantial CBS daytime lineup, so let’s hope it’s a huge success and can help keep the soap world going strong!
