The Young and the Restless stars Michelle Stafford and Sharon Case are having the time of their lives playing out Phyllis and Sharon’s kidnapping. It’s hard to know whether they are feuding, reconciling, or a little bit of both while in the hands of their mysterious captor. Still, one thing is for certain: The conclusion is going to bring fireworks to daytime.
Case described the upcoming finale (date TBD) to Soaps.com as the “final episode of this long progression” that required them to pull out their best acting chops. Stafford had a more colorful explanation for us, adding enthusiastically, “Oh, can we just say what it is? Sharon and I did that motherf***er in one take, one take!” Yes, we love a confident queen!
Case reminds Stafford that it’s “like the chocolate fountain” in reference to Sharon and Phyllis’ iconic food fight. We all remember that Sharon pushed Phyllis first, but she kind of deserved it in the heat of the moment.
With a second opportunity to deliver another iconic Young & Restless scene, Stafford admits that they “were so nervous.” If they had to reset and start all over again, it would have been “horrific,” she says. Case leans into the fact that they’ve been here before since the chocolate fountain was also done in one take. She knew they could repeat history with their masterful skills and their characters’ explosive chemistry — yet the scene and the kidnapper remain a mystery to us so far.
That didn’t stop Case and Stafford from teasing the finale to the hilt!
“I sensed her nerves and she probably mine. And, you know, we’re just buzzing together,” Case continues. “And finally, when it’s time to go, I’m like, ‘This is going to be grand. This is going to be great.’”
Stafford nods her head in agreement with an epic summary, “It was the soap Olympics!”
It sounds like another major round in the trenches for Phyllis and Sharon’s relationship —and Stafford and Case delivered right when it counted.
