Finn Rejects Poppy’s Pleas to Keep Their Secret — and Liam Opens Up to Steffy

In his office, Finn changes his shirt while talking on the phone to someone about back-to-back shifts. He’s anxious to get home to his wife. As he disconnects, Poppy walks in. He knows why she’s there and warns he won’t change his mind… he’s telling Steffy that Luna’s his daughter today. Poppy points out he still hasn’t told her. He’s been working crazy hours. Poppy thinks he’s working overtime because he knows deep down that keeping the secret is the only way to safeguard what he and Steffy have together.

Finn tells her that dishonesty is how they got here now. They go over how it might have been for Luna if he’d been involved. Poppy didn’t want to upend his life. Finn hollers that he could have pursued medicine and a father. She robbed him and Luna. Her life could have been so different. That’s all he can think about… that, and what happens next. He has no idea how his wife will react when she learns that the woman who abducted her and tried to take her life is her husband’s daughter.

Liam Admits His Life Stinks

At the cliff house, Steffy and Liam go over Kelly’s schedule and gush about their co-parenting. Liam mentions he was talking to his dad recently about how close they came to losing her because of Luna. Steffy tries not to think about her and everything she put her through. She hopes she never sees the light of day again. Liam asks if Steffy feels safe. She recaps that she was close to being Luna’s third murder, but her very brave husband kept it from happening. She can always count on Finn.

Liam gets on the phone with the office and then apologizes to Steffy for the interruption. He shares that there’s a big client who’s not happy to be working with him and not Bill. With his dad stepping away from the day-to-day, it’s just the way it has to be. Liam doesn’t mind stepping up… he has nothing else going on except for the kids. She tells him he’s an incredible father and asks if he’s taking time for himself. Liam sometimes works out, reads… and is thinking of getting a parrot. Steffy is concerned. Liam assures her he’s fine. “I think I’m fine. Maybe not. I don’t know. Life just doesn’t look the way that I pictured it would at this point.” She’s with Finn and Hope’s with Carter… and it’s his own damn fault, but his life kind of stinks.

Luna’s Stir-Crazy

At Bill’s place, Luna fans herself as he complains about not being able to get the A/C guy to come out. She wishes she was at the beach, but she wouldn’t get too far with the ankle monitor on. Bill agrees. She’d be thrown back in jail and there would be nothing he could do to help her. Luna knows the rules and promises not to do anything stupid. She’s beyond grateful, but sometimes she thinks she really does belong behind bars for what she did to Tom, Hollis, and Steffy, her cousin’s wife.

After another frustrating phone call, Bill still can’t get someone out to fix the A/C. He reminds Luna she can’t go in the pool with the ankle monitor and points out this isn’t supposed to be a picnic. She needs to think about who she was and who she is now. He hopes their conversations have helped. Luna tells him he’s helped her see that she doesn’t have to be defined by her past. She thanks him for believing in her and for everything. They hug. She admits she fantasizes about being back in the real world and her family doesn’t hate her anymore. Luna gets a little stir-crazy sometimes, and she wishes she could break free. But she knows that would ruin her chances of being accepted back into her family. Luna realizes it’s a long-shot. She almost took the life of her cousin’s wife too.

At the cliff house, Liam tries to back track on his life being terrible. He’s just frustrated. Steffy guesses it’s because he’s not in a relationship. She asks if he’s been dating. He says that hasn’t panned out. Cringing, he admits that yesterday was his birthday. Steffy gawps. Liam says it’s OK… Wyatt gave him a call. He assures his ex this isn’t a pity party… it just reinforces how happy she is for her and Finn.

Finn Walks Out On Poppy

In Finn’s office, he tells Poppy he’s still getting the runaround from the prison. He won’t give up and is worried. So is Poppy… but she’s also worried about him and what he’s about to do. What if doing the right thing isn’t what he thinks it is… what if his marriage fractures, or worse?! Finn says this won’t be easy, but it’s unavoidable, “Because of you.” He has to bring pain into Steffy’s life and all he wants to do is bring her joy. “First it was Sheila, now Luna. I keep bringing Steffy pain.”

Finn says that Steffy might bolt for the door when she learns Luna’s his daughter. Poppy asks, “Then why take the risk?” Finn has to have faith in his marriage and his family; that they’ll survive this. Poppy asks, “What if you can’t?” Finn will find out when he goes home to tell Steffy the truth. She deserves it. Poppy pleads for him to give it more time as he heads out the door, “Get out of my way.”

Steffy’s Sweet Gesture

At the cliff house, Liam admits he’s jealous… he had several chances and he blew all of them. She deserves better than him and she found that in Finn. They have a son together… “Yeah, there’s the Sheila thing, but we’ll keep an eye on it.” Steffy doesn’t think there will be anymore surprises or shocks. Liam certainly hopes not; they deserve to relax and enjoy each other and their family. Steffy gets a text that Finn is on his way home. Liam will leave them to have some alone time. Steffy says, “Wait.” She runs into the kitchen and bustles around before reappearing with a big cookie with a candle on it. “Happy Birthday, Liam.” He blows out the candle, hugs her, and she says, “Take care of yourself, OK?” Liam tells her things work out for a reason. “You and Finn are meant to be together. Forever.” With that, he exits.

At Bill’s place, Luna looks at a photo of Finn and Steffy and sniffs, “I’m sorry, Finn. I’m so sorry.”

At the cliff house, Steffy is bopping and tidying up when Finn comes in. He smiles and she takes out her ear buds. “Baby, I missed you.” They kiss and hug. Finn tells her he missed her more than she could possibly know. In his mind, he thinks, “How do I tell her Luna’s my daughter?”
