Big changes are heading Days of Our Lives’ way this spring, and with the new writers’ material we’re expecting not just a new beginning, but more than a few endings! One of the things we know is ending is Body and Soul — we just aren’t sure when or how. But as the problems keep mounting for the beleaguered Salem soap, it sure feels like it can’t last much longer.
And yes, the folks at Days of Our Lives could just drop Body and Soul with a snap of their fingers, but at this point, too many Salemites are invested in it to get rid of it without some kind of explanation. Just cancelling it out of the blue feels a bit like tempting fate, seeing as how it seems like it was created as an analogy to Days of Our Lives moving from NBC to Peacock. But that doesn’t mean the folks in Salem can’t wash their hands of it.
Cause enough problems, hurt enough people, and Kate and Abe may simply decide to cut their losses and sell it to another production company to happily continue forever — far, far away from Salem.
And a stalker who’s outright trying to off the actors rather than just sending tainted cupcakes to give everyone a tummy ache feels like it could be the last straw. As Abe told Kayla when begging her to fill in for poor Bonnie, Body and Soul just can’t afford any more problems or delays. It’s on its final legs.
But who in Salem would really want to wipe out the streaming soap — through any means necessary? The show’s been setting Kerry up to take the fall, but honestly, he’s a bit too obvious.
A dark coat and beanie in the middle of winter are far from a smoking gun. They certainly aren’t Belle’s red coat. And even if they were, we’ll remind everyone that it was used by both Jan and the Devil to frame her, while Belle was innocent.
With that in mind, we drew up a list of suspects who could be hastening Body and Soul’s end sooner than we expected. And we’ll leave it up to you as to whether you want to cheer them or jeer them for their efforts!
